Hello, I’m Neil.

Before training as a counsellor, I had a long career in television production, working as a script writer and producer in London. Although it was a very different career path, a key to my work was understanding characters’ drive and motivation and I found myself ever more interested in human psychology and psychotherapy.

After moving to Moray, I decided to capitalise on this interest in a way that could really help people, and I trained as a counsellor and psychotherapist.

I find my new career so much more fulfilling, being in a position to get to know clients and help them on their journey to feeling better. It’s a privilege to be in a position to truly listen to and understand clients’ concerns and troubles, and through my training be able to assist them in getting a new perspective on their problems.

I love meeting and working with new clients, and seeing the world through their eyes. I truly believe that during our collaboration we learn so much from each other, and it’s inspiring to watch clients as they learn to overcome the emotional obstacles in their lives. I really enjoy my work as a counsellor and I want to offer the therapeutic experience to as many people as possible.

What type of counsellor am I?

I have been trained in techniques from many different types of psychotherapy (this is also described as pluralistic counselling). I have studied a person-centred approach, CBT, Psychodynamic counselling, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), as well as many other approaches.

This means that I can tailor our work together to your specific and individual needs. I firmly believe that every client is unique and you deserve a bespoke approach to working through your difficulties.

Why choose me?

I am approachable, open and welcoming. I believe that my strength as a counsellor lies in creating a collaborative and non-judgemental environment in which to work together.

Research shows that the most important predictor of a good outcome in counselling is the quality of the relationship between client and counsellor.

Every therapeutic relationship is unique, and our work together across a wide range of approaches will be tailored to your particular situation.

You are a one-off and I am here to help you.
